lyrics

With a wave of a wand and some slick slight of hand
You could dazzle my mind, I just can't understand
what broke your will, to the point of no return
Disappeared in a moment, no mirrors or smoke
On a stage with no audience, and no chance to choke
No-one wants to be, a burden to those they love
The smoke will still linger, long after it burnt
out like a candle, covered in dirt
the women will cry, as the children ask where did you go

I try to attempt, I try to understand
how the trick could have worked, what was hid in your hands
There's just one remainder, the fact that won't fit the equation
If love, instead of liquor was fully supplied
maybe we could have extended, our fleeting time
with the man and the magic, the truth can be tragic you know

The magician was always a tenant you see
to the selfish landlord, who cared more for money
than the blood than ran through, both of their veins and their hearts
The landlord, so wild can always proclaim:
I did not pull the trigger! I am free from all blame!
But you know God damn well, that you put the gun in his hand.

The human inside wants to believe in hell
for your kind of evil needs somewhere to dwell
I try so hard for forgiveness, but end up with nothing but rage
Because he'd still be alive, if you tried once to show
a bit of fucking compassion, you let the pain grow
your shallow attempt to find faith will be judged oh, you see

So go back to pretending you even once gave a shit
about the man and the magic and the family you quit
long before you broke all your promises and spent all the checks
